I love the footie expression “denied by the woodwork” that the commentators use in literally every game and think you could probably apply it more broadly to non sports things. It’s honestly a bit profound and makes me think abt free will and fate. Man vs nature etc.

This is currently in the trail system of Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve Extension, a really lovely area with some Torrey pines and other rare plants (and is mostly, somehow, left alone by the state park crowds). I was just there a week ago.
UPDATE #2 Evacuations are continuing in the zones covered in this map. Also the following roads are closed as of now. 2000 to 2300 Del Mar Scenic Parkway ***Temporary evacuation location point will be the Del Mar Fairgrounds.
