Tropical Storm #Gabrielle has formed in the central tropical Atlantic - the 1st Atlantic named storm formation since Fernand got named on 23 August. Since 1940, only one other Atlantic #hurricane season (1992) had no named storm formations between 24 August - 16 September.

It's been 18 days since we've had an active tropical system in the Atlantic. The last time the Atlantic was shut out from August 28th through September 15th was 1939 (never in the modern satellite era). The unprecedented dry spell could end this week ⬇️ https://t.co/rpZTjPq1zP

🌊QUIET GULF ... FOR NOW🌊 There hasn't been a hurricane in the Gulf yet this year. Statistically, there’s an 83% chance of a hurricane in the Gulf each year. Maybe 2025 will be the year we beat the odds.🙏 As you know, September & early October are months that we have to

❌ No tropical activity is expected in the Atlantic during the next 7 days. 🌀 This would be the farthest into September without a named storm developing since 1992 (Bonnie on Sept 18th). 📜 Since 1851, only 2 years did not record a storm formation in September (1879 and 1890).

My buddy Brian McNoldy tracks OHC. Ocean Heat Content. Hurricane fuel. This year and compared to last 10+ years. Waters are hot. Deep waters are hot. Fuel is there if everything else aligns. Interesting graphics if you're tracking potentials.

Such important portraits to be able to share. Thank you to the parents for inviting Steve in.
Over the past six years, the parents of school shooting victims opened their doors to CBS News' @SteveHartmanCBS and photographer Lou Bopp, inviting them to see what it's like to live alongside their children's bedrooms, just as they left them. [First aired 11/14/2024.]

Incredible video
Hurricane #Katrina had the single biggest impact on my life still to this day. I learned a lot about Hurricane survival and gained a massive sense of respect and caution for Mother Nature. @jimreedphoto and myself bunkered down in a 5 story building right on the beachfront and

Thank goodness. I would have called this storm “Ferdinand” incorrectly the entire time because of a former co-worker.

On August 20 every year, Dr. Bill Gray would ring a bell denoting the start of the climatologically most active portion of the Atlantic #hurricane season. Historically, about 2/3 of all Atlantic hurricane activity occurs between August 20 - October 10.
