If you do nothing else when you get out of here, do things only when they make sense to you. You ought to be able to write “I'm going to work for GM b/c... “I'm buying 100 shares of Coca Cola stock b/c...” If you can’t write an intelligent answer to those questions, don’t do it.

Whatever the other guy did, the other 36 were like a bunch of lemmings in terms of following. That’s what’s gotten all the big banks in trouble for the past 15 years. Every time somebody big does something dumb, other people can hardly wait to copy it.

how can they get such a bad result? I suggest that’s a good thing to think about before you get a job & go out into the world. I would say that if you had to pick one thing that did it more than anything else, it’s the mindless imitation of one’s peers that produced this result.
