Some great suggestions here and also some great reasonable critical responses/discussion in the comment thread. #scicomm . The stuff I miss when I've been off twitter for forever

I teach a class on how to give a great scientific talk. The core idea is that humans absorb information effortlessly if it is delivered as a compelling story. I call it the 'David Attenborough' method, in honor of the master. Attached is my style guide. #scicomm @Attenboroughs_D

This is genuinely amazing. Neurons share information with structures that look and behave a lot like viruses, and are built using a repurposed viral gene.

The Arc gene, which is critical for animals’ ability to learn from experiences, has an incredible origin story.

It's weird when people say philosophy is useless, and all we need is science. I'd love to see the double blind study they did to figure that one out.

Ah yes, we need to be taxing billionaires less. After all, they earned that money fair and square through other people's hard work.

#SciComm and #climatechange folks should heed this one! It's been said many times but: Knowledge =/= acceptance, and reason is slave to passions. We human are excellent at filtering facts and conscripting to our own purpose. Progress requires framing with values, culture, etc.

Ok this sounds interesting but makes no sense. They're just injecting RNA into the blood and hoping it'll get translated where it needs to? Anyone get this?

Yes! This is something the @BillNye and @neiltyson type can do also to help out #SciComm - give voice to talented folks taking unique and impactful approaches to get science out there!

@SnowHydro @iamscicomm I think for the people that are organizing science events and promoting #scicomm within the community there has to be a concentrated effort to seek out those under-billed names. They’re definitely out there!

I'm seeing a lot of #SacklerSciComm conversation about how to broach diversity largely on racial/gender lines. Wanted to also throw out there a #STEMed perspective - #SciComm diversity through diff modes of engaging/learning: hands-on, problem-based, #citSci, local issues, etc.
