It's criminal that @SailorShrimpp doesn't even have 500 followers yet. Who doesn't like cute crustacean art? In 2022?.

Nicole @fossilforager is one of the most prolific artists out there who draw bugs and other underappreciated creatures. She even started the hashtag #Invertober2022 to highlight funky invertebrates for one full month!.

This book is gorgeous & suggests common names for wasps that lack any so laypeople can familiarize themselves with the animals. Like the citadel wasps, which build intricate fortresses. And the pastry wasps, with their delicious-looking nests.

My friend @humanbyweight is currently illustrating 300+ species of cicadas found across North America, after previously illustrating 200+ wasp species for a book.

We have @The_Episiarch, who is known for designing characters based on real-life parasitic species, like this aquatic isopod/pillbug known as tongue-biter.

Always a delight to see @Lycomorpha on the timeline: A lifelong bug friend, lichen admirer, and disability advocate.

Happy weekend, everyone! Today I'll be sharing the works of artists in my general vicinity: folks from SouthEast Asia and people who work with bugs & slugs in general. I'll scatter the posts throughout the day, so I hope you enjoy the ride!.

And thus, this is how we end up with a poster summarizing the diversity of crab fossils throughout the ages in 14 species.

Fast forward a few hours (or days, or weeks if I'm distracted), and we get one more crab to add to the army. I'm currently tweeting the finished images one by one on my own account, let's hope birdsite holds up until I'm done!.

Also I specifically didn't want my crabs to be all red like a boiled crab, that'd be rude to the crabs.
