@DeterminateSys @grhmc This is the bottom of my nix-darwin flake. Can the host bit be done better?. I have two Macs and want the configuration to apply to both of them without hardcoding the host name in the config.

Read through the first 5 Nix Pills, plus the Language chapter of the Nix Reference Manual. The puzzle pieces clicked, suddenly, and it's all very logical now!. Still that semicolon in "let foo = . ; in . ", "with foo; . ", etc. grates at me 🤪.

@DeterminateSys @grhmc I'm gonna puzzle out how to set up Home manager and nix-darwin (for GUI apps) with DetSys Nix. It would really help is to have a blog post on doing it, though. The one you have doesn't help much [1]. [1]

Nix doesn’t look like a well-planned language at all, more like something grown organically. Which is why there’s Nickel to generate Nix code.

NuShell makes intuitive sense. Starlark (Bazel) is an offshoot of Python, written in Java. Don’t know what you make of Nix. Looks like a bastard cousin of Haskell 🤷♂️.

Rust is a completely passable OCaml!. Also, @zeddotdev with Helix keybindings is better than Helix. The UX of going through Rust Analyzer issues is buttery smooth! Also, being able to view the whole project at the same time is a big deal for me. Some key binding issues,.
