@FurinaFonta1ne no, they are "gender unknown". gender unknown CAN mean genderless, but it can also mean literally anything you want. several legendaries (including Zacian) are given genders in their dex entries despite having the gender unknown label.

Screaming "this character is smart" then showing them being a massive idiot was used purposefully back in 1818 to make a character insufferable so I'm not sure what the writers are expecting.
Funnily enough, Mary Sue-ing your characters into looking intelligent/screaming "THIS CHARACTER IS SMART!" at the audience is less convincing than actually writing a smart character, and way less fun to engage with
