في الصحيح من حديث أبي هريرة أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: إن الله يؤيد هذا الدين بالرجل الفاجر. قال ابن حجر: والذي يظهر أن المراد بالفاجر أعم من أن يكون كافرا أو فاسقا. قال المناوي في الفيض: والمراد بالفاجر الفاسق إن كان الرجل مسلما حقيقة أو الكافر إن كان منافقا أي الإمام.

In the Sahih, it is narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah supports this religion even through sinful people.". Ibn Hajar commented: "It appears that 'sinful' here has a broad meaning - it could refer to disbelievers or sinners."
