While interviewing Mayor Matt Mahan in downtown San Jose, a man was shouting at us and fought Mayor Mahan's security guard.
The fight lasted a couple minutes and the man was arrested by SJPD.
Police said they were compiling evidence and sending it to the DA's office/
Low wages keep journalists from low income backgrounds from entering the industry, leaving mostly J-school students with generational wealth filling roles throughout the country.
Low wages is how we end up with journalists who are out of touch with society.

Walking to work and it feels amazing to see the Valentine’s Day Bandit legend lives on!
Portland is a special place for thousands of reasons but hearts every Valentine’s Day will always be one of the best ❤️
I failed multiple classes and averaged D’s and C’s in nearly every class in high school.
After a few years in community college and what seemed like 10 seconds at SDSU, I finally have my degree.
My educational journey is not done. I want more degrees. You heard it here first.
My grandfather passed away this week after a very long and accomplished life at the age of 93.
He moved my family from Peru to Los Angeles and bought a home. That home still belongs to my grandma.
Not everyone gets to know their grandparents and I’m forever thankful.
College Area residents say partygoers near SDSU have threatened to kill them.
They say parties haven’t stopped in the area even as hundreds of students living in the area have tested positive for the virus.

Well here's a turn.
Sheriff Gore says that he made the editorial decision to call Deputy Faiivae's collapse an "overdose."
He said he did not consult medical professionals and did not believe this incident was anything other than an OD.
This was how my desk looked for a few weeks during my SDSU fraternity misconduct investigation. I was putting the plexiglass to work with all my hand drawn timelines.
I’ve been away from reporting while my family grieves the loss of my stepfather, Maurice.
He was a second father to me and the world is darker without him here now.
I admired his relentless work ethic and value of humanity. I hope to emulate this.

"Some experts expressed doubts about the scenario. "You can't just touch fentanyl and overdose," physician Ryan Marino said."
Community college gave me the tools necessary to be where I am today.
Without community college, I not only would have lost my education, but I would have lost the resourcefulness and perspective that I value every day.

Thanks for allowing me to keep telling stories that matter and for welcoming my to Maine with open arms.
Took my first real vacation away from work since graduating last year.
Spent time with family throughout the Bay Area, met my nephew for the first time and ate some delicious food.
I cleared my head and forgot about the world/Twitter for a while. It was good to recharge.
Antimaskers and anti-vaxxers have taken over today's public comment for the board of supers.

Until I got my first job in journalism, it did not occur to me how many times I was rejected before I got one yes.
Countless times for different jobs in different areas.
I can also go into how hard it is to get internships while in community college but y'all aren't ready.
(1/3) Social media gives us this warped idea that everyone is getting accepted into every internship, program, etc. they apply to. This simply is not the case. People go through struggles, hardships, and rejection, but it is hardly posted about or talked about.
We officially made it to California!
As we came down the mountains we had to get lunch with
@KyleBBetz
and celebrate a great SDSU win.
Next stop, San Francisco!
For those of you that know me personally know that I’ve been driving a Honda Pilot around since high school.
My dad bought it for my mom back in 2003 and it’s racked up nearly 320,000 miles since then, 120,000 were mine.
Today it decided to leave us. Thank you for everything.
I’m leaving the beautiful Twin Cities first thing in the morning tomorrow.
I had to take one last walk through 38th and Chicago.
This is, without a doubt, one of the most moving places on earth.
One year ago today I started reporting at
@newscentermaine
It’s hard to believe it’s only been a year. Through challenges and triumphs. Through thick and thin.
I’ve learned so much and can’t wait to keep reporting in the beautiful state of Maine.

I finally found it. At the very moment I lost hope. I found a great California burrito… outside California. It came to me in a fever dream.
This one’s at El Corazon near west end Portland. It was out of this world and unlocked memories and smells i haven’t felt in months.
Leroy Walker, father of Joseph Walker who was shot and killed in the Lewiston mass shooting, speaks to reporters after him and other impacted families spoke to President Biden.

Here the stories that pushed me.
These are what

They hit several protesters and a news photographer.
Tesla employees were seen putting up fences to block more protesters from coming to the Fremont factory
Protestors took them down just a couple minutes later
