A lot of this is explained by social contagion, and how that was amplified by the pandemic. Online communities always existed but with everyone locked down they exploded in popularity. Lots of paranoid people sharing a forum and patting each other on the back for mad ideas.
Really is hard to shake the feeling that at some point in the last 5 years, a decent chunk of the population went completely and irredeemably mad. Like, properly insane.

Starlings have always been and remain the best UK bird.
Bird saves and reproduces data: A PNG image of a bird ( photo of a bird -> spectral synthesizer ) was reproduced by an adult Starling bird It seems to have reproduced the sound in conjunction with some additional notes which made it not detectable.

Say it louder for the policymakers with their heads in the sand at the back.
London, Oxford, and Cambridge are pampered places within the UK that have for far too long enjoyed high public spending on science and transport while they refuse to accommodate the growth that stimulates. We must move investment to where it will generate the most return. North.

This platform has become an appalling cesspit, and yet I think this is still the worst thing I have seen on the platform formerly known as Twitter.
We need to talk about how American airport timetable screens are alphabetically ordered by destination. While Europeans ones are ordered by departure time. And the American ordering is just way faster to find your flight and gate

"There is a replication crisis in biology. therefore scientists don't want to vote for my mad party". Very normal discourse.
There is an extraordinary "reproducibility crisis" in the sciences, particularly in biology, where most published papers fail to replicate. Most universities have massive bureaucracies that inhibit the translation of basic research into commercial adoption. The voting.

Sounds like we're about to be invaded
❗️ Russia poses no threat to the UK: neither in its waters, airspace, nor streets & certainly not to Britain's long-suffering NHS. We have no need to do so. It is the UK government that needs these fabrications to avoid dealing with the country’s real social & economic problems.

Few things worse at the moment than how emboldened these complete and total losers are now.
Utterly surreal. Victoria Derbyshire repeatedly asks, Jacob Angeli Chansley to explain his views on the january 6th insurrection . He repeatedly speaks down to her, demeans her, insults her, insults the BBC, repeatedly hints about conspiracy. And yet when she repeatedly asks her
