Say what you will about Zohran Mamdani and his policies, but his messaging was all about affordability. Cuomo kept trying to hammer him on social policies and his Israel stance, but that'll only get you so far in a city filled with immigrants who have no stake in the geopolitics

Most of Sears's ads and messaging were about transgender issues, while Spanberger flooded the zone with advertisements on affordability and cost of living. I said this a few months ago, but this was the exact set of circumstances which led to the GOP fumbling Kentucky in 2023.

My main takeaway from last night is that the realignment of culturally conservative minority voters to Donald Trump in 2024 was not due to a reaction against left-wing social policy, but instead was due to Trump renting out their votes for the cycle as "President Low Prices."

Spanberger up by 14, Sherrill up by 12, Hashmi up by 10, Mamdani up by 8, and Jones up by 5. Nothing to say except ball dropped, on the part of the GOP.

There is probably a more diplomatic way to say this, but: There is something seriously wrong with an electorate that selects as its top law enforcement officer a man who made clear he actually hopes children die to punish their parents.
