You're all making this be a bigger deal than it actually is. The reason Japanese producers and artists don't have much problem with "Queer" text, is because they don't see it as Queer. Most of the time, 99%, they treat it as fiction and don't tie it to any in real life group.
i think something that always stood out to me about granblue is the lack of hesitation in addressing queer subtext explicitly. often times youd just see vaguely winknod allusions to it but there's literally no doubt or room for platonic interpretation here
