Visit to Bramble Bush Bay today yielded terrific views of a Great Northern Diver (plus crab!) @DorsetBirdClub @SightingDOR

Stopped for refreshments at the @TDRiversideInn where her father lived for a while during WWII. On our way to catch our train we stopped at the memorial to Princess Pocahontas. It's taken us 21 days to get here, but it's been worth the effort and the planning. Where to next๐ค

From there the ambiance took a steep dive for a few miles with more industrial wasteland until we got to Gravesend. This was our end point and was chosen because it is Lesley's birthplace.

The new housing at Swanscombe/Greenhithe has been nicely done, tastefully mixing new builds with very old riverside properties and pubs. The foreshore here also provided the opportunity for a spot of mud-larking. @RiverThames

This is soon followed by the equally spectacular electricity pylon that, with its mate on the other side of the river, is the tallest in the UK carrying a 400kV link.

We have finally reached the destination of our walk #sourcetosea along the @ThamesPathNT. Set off in glorious sunshine that stayed with us all day. It's only a bridge but the river crossing at Dartford is spectacular.

We were asked by a film crew to take a lower path near Dartford Rifle Range so we would not be in their shot ๐คฃ. The sound of gunfire was very disconcerting! @RiverThames

Lack of a bridge when we needed to negotiate the Darent river where it meets the Thames meant we had to walk 5 miles just to end up 50 yards further down stream! The Crayford Marshes are very bleak as you would expect, but seeing a Marsh Harrier was a consolation. @ThamesPathNT

Set off from Slade Green to walk back to our base near the Dartford Crossing on our #sourcetosea walk along the Thames. Storm Benjamin was forecast to give high winds and heavy rain but in the end it was fairly dry and just quite blustery - had much worse on the @swcoastpath

@ThamesPathNT We were delighted to spot a couple of seals. They didn't seem to mind the murky water

Today was from Woolwich to Slade Green near Erith which we chose purely to balance the distances with the next two days. Lovely autumn weather for walking. Met a nice chap who had just bought a carbon bike in Maidstone and was riding it back home to the South Bank @ThamesPathNT

Back again for the final part of our walk from #sourcetosea Definitely getting to the gritty end of the river. Lots of semi-derelict industry and certainly no gentrification once we left Woolwich Arsenal behind.

After our @ThamesPathNT walk we had a day at the London Wetlands Centre operated by @WWTLondon Super chuffed to spot this Bittern lurking in the reeds. Not the greatest of shots but it was hot and we were over 300m from the bird @_BTO

Great to reach our target of the #thamesbarrier. The weather was much cooler than yesterday (dare I say cold?) so we just kept going before finally stopping at Woolwich Arsenal.

Passed through lots of areas of old warehousing before arriving opposite Canary Wharf. #cuttysark soon followed and then the college at Greenwich. We then reached another view of Canary Wharf but this time from the opposite side with all the buildings in the reverse order.
