The Red Sox GAVE UP THE SECOND BEST PLAYER IN BASEBALL in, basically, a salary dump. The Twins got a mid-rotation starter and $10m for a prospect and draft pick. and the Red Sox get a better grade!? Nice try, Simon.
TRADE GRADES UP-DATE:. Dodgers: A+.Red Sox: B-.Twins: C. Bottom line: Dodgers did better being able to secure Graterol for their own bullpen…Red Sox miss out on top pitching prospect but maybe solve 2B long term. Twins end up paying more for Maeda than before.

I'm genuinely curious about something. Twins Twitter is full of people asking/begging/demanding that the Twins improve their bullpen. Will they be the same people complaining in a few years about the Twins "giving up" on the prospects they traded to get the bullpen help?.

Jose Berrios is by far my favorite pitcher since Johan Santana. And now I've moved past the "I don’t want to trade him" to worry that the "market has exceeded the Twins expectations" is just going to get my hopes up only to be disappointed by the return.

I'm hopeful for Joe Mauer. The trends all suggest he will get in. But the people that don't reveal their ballots are, for the most part, wackos. The one thing I'm sure of, though, is that when he picks up the phone and is told he is a member of the HOF, he will call it "neat.".

I'm tweeting this with 100% sincerity. The only moves the Twins should make:.- Trade for a rental reliever or two. If it costs more than a top 25 prospect, pass. Not gonna get much, but the front of the 'pen needs depth. The back (Duran, Jax, Stewart, Pagan, Lopez) is fine.

This year, if Carlos Correa is. Great - he opts out. Good - he opts out. Bad - he likely opts out. Catastrophically injured - he doesn't opt out. This year, if the Twins are. Anything but terrible - he opts out. Terrible - he gets traded. This needs to be understood.

I'd say the narrative that "Cole isn't coming here" is too strong. It's not likely, sure. but it's not 0% either. The Twins have a great clubhouse, with strong veteran leadership and a really good lineup. You think Marwin won't make a phone call? Twins have $$$ to spend.
Taking a quick look at potential free agents for the #MNTwins, and as far as starting pitchers go, I'd like to see them sign two guys: Madison Bumgarner and Zack Wheeler. I'd offer all the money it would take and Target Field to Gerrit Cole too, but he's not coming here.
