In case it’s not clear, the 20th century skyline transformed. The 21st century skyline is stagnant. NYC used to be affordable to working class workers, which is why so many moved there. Now it’s mostly not

A family of four earning $160,900 per year qualifies for a “low-income” three bedroom apartment in San Mateo County “Affordable housing” alone cannot make housing affordable https://t.co/7iscjjJiEj

Wonderful to see the mayor of one of CA’s biggest cities support state housing laws

San Diego is a pro-housing city but we can’t solve California’s housing crisis alone. I’m grateful that new and existing state laws are finally pushing every city to do its part. When we build more homes, we can lower housing costs for everyone.

A funny thing has been happening where developers use CA state housing law to propose big projects, local councils and commissions get upset, but then they start supporting smaller projects much more https://t.co/FL7zZeThYf

Buildings a broad pro-housing movement requires finding supporters from all kinds of backgrounds So I wrote an article about unusual reasons to support urbanism: pro-natalism, feminism, anti-imperialism https://t.co/Q4WsuzIs0l

I disagree on SB79. I support it and was glad to see @CA_Dem endorse it this weekend. Workers, students, seniors and other Californians will all benefit from more housing—especially near transit.

Oakland’s new bust shelters on 14th getting results! Nice sitting & leaning benches + overhang & spacious bulb = way more people at this stop than I’ve ever seen The protected bike lane is pretty sweet too 👌🏻

The California Democratic Party just voted to support our legislation to allow more housing near train & subway stations & rapid bus stops. SB 79 means more housing, stronger transit, less traffic congestion & lower carbon emissions. Thank you Democrats! @CA_Dem

Lafayette, CA just sent an email to all residents requesting opposition to SB 79, a bill allowing denser homes within a half mile of our BART station. This is official city communications Local control in exclusionary suburbs is working super well!

Some of my finest anti-housing hate mail: https://t.co/LMGDqpXpnr A teaser quote: “And BY THE WAY, WHY isn't SINGLE FAMILY HOME OWNERSHIP a choice in your dictatorial view? 70% of America gets to live the American dream - but you don't want that in Lafayette? PLEASE, you and…”

Either it’s safe to rebuild those neighborhoods with duplexes and higher density or they should be depopulated entirely Rebuilding a bunch of single-family mansions just lays groundwork for the neighborhood to go up in flames again in the future
