✅ @jeremy_fielding refused to build my camera robot design, but that's probably for the best...

I need help - I am designing a robot (not WALL-E) that will track an object & point the camera keeping the object in frame. I am considering Open CV on a raspberry pi? What would you use and why? I have never used Open CV so whatever I use it will be new to me.

Two years ago I built an industrial robot and it almost killed me. I am finally ready to try a new robot. The video is live right now! Please join me for the journey. This little guy is quite the challenge. https://t.co/NMnTzI7pWv

I have been thinking a lot lately about how Ai is going to influence parenting, and my future on the internet. I decided to talk about it on my channel Fatherhood engineered.

Statistics are fascinating & dangerous if misunderstood. Changing the question slightly leads to vastly different results. For example the odds you will win the lottery twice is tiny. The odds someone will win the lottery twice is actually pretty high.

Let’s start a list of engineering related book & movie recommendations. Bonus points for true stories. Some of my favorites- Nonfiction- Skunk Works, Spy Craft, the perfectionist, today I started failure is not an option. Looking for more problem solving stories!

I did this to teach my kids how generators work. We did this years ago and the kids still talk about it. No one was required to use it, but they loved it so much they actually unplugged the Wii and plugged in lightbulbs to see who could make them the brightest.

Turns out my little shop buddy really loves watching the tool changer, so I had to make it a little easier for him. I also thinks he likes being between me and the camera. He made a cameo in the latest video!

I walk inside and forgot what I wanted to change in the 3D model. So I write it down & leave the paper in the shop. Then I write it on my hand and finish machining the part. I look down & my plan is already starting to fail again. 😂

I would like to shop locally, but any friction can make a customer walk out and order online. Again, small high dollar items I think it just make sense. Thieves, we will always have. But a pole saw? I want to understand how these decisions are made.

I see more items locked up lately. I know why this is needed for expensive items that fit in a purse, but It is hard to believe someone would shove a pole saw down their pants 😁. I want to understand. Are thieves taking the battery? Is this an overreaction? Real question 🧐

Wow. I am really humbled by the reaction to this video. It is getting way more attention than I expected. I have emails text messages & the views doubled since checking last night. I promise I was only trying to tell you how much I love engineering when I see things like this.

Thinking of a step-by-step series showing how to build a cool robot yourself. What do you think is a good budget? Generally a higher budget means more capable robot, lower means more can afford it. Please reply w/ any suggestions.
