The new, walkable city planned in the Bay Area is @EzraKlein's idea of progressive abundance brought to life – proof that we can all thrive if we choose to build the sustainable, equitable reality we want to see.
6/ With re-industrialization policy happening, if California can turn the corner and embrace the abundance agenda, we can go back to the most obvious idea in the world – Silicon Valley should invent stuff, and we then make it in Solano, Stockton, and everywhere around here.

There are few actions that improve social, economic, safety, and sustainability outcomes than approving dense, transit-oriented housing with no or few parking spaces included. What's going on? @RepStephenLynch.
Boston's ZBA, in a 5-2 vote, rejected plans for 70-units of new housing, just 0.3mi to the MBTA's Andrew Square station, to replace a 2-story industrial building. US Congressman Stephen Lynch (D) sent an aide to read a letter opposing the development for lack of parking.

Crash-rated bollards prevent catastrophes like this. ~$1K/bollard pays for itself by avoiding billions in property damage, police + medical labor, insurance + legal costs – let alone the harm + loss of human life. Smart design can stop tragedies like this before they can occur

We're about to see supply increase, rents drop, and homelessness rates drop in Montana. Significant economic growth, too (home production + residential consumption generally average 15-18% of GDP). Imagine if this happened in California?.

See how private residential investment and consumption spending on housing services are impacting GDP.
Last week, Montana voted to:.- legalize 6-story apartments on most commercial land.- sharply cut parking mandates.- limit excess impact fees.- cut condo defect liability.- require equal treatment for manufactured homes.- legalize single-stair buildings up to 6 stories statewide

If you watch anything today watch this.
This is the most important video of 2025. Everything comes down to our ability to build housing and infrastructure. Dems have lost the plot and it’s time to retool. Watch the entire thing and share it with your representatives. If they scoff, primary them.

This isn't city planning. Planning is making sure people have homes to live in, safe streets to walk, parks to play in, clean air to breathe – not dictating how landowners safely use their own lots. This is literally crazy.
A beloved LA treehouse built by a Simpson’s producer 24 years ago is about to get torn down by LA Department of Building and Safety. This is what they do instead of permit housing during a housing crisis. Beyond parody.

"California Forever should not be controversial! The idea of building new housing in a thoughtful and sensitive way to provide economic opportunity for the next generation of Californians is a terrific idea". Great piece by @CJHandmer touching on @CAForever.
As a Californian it pains me to see the state struggle beneath the weight of its inherent contradictions and defiantly compromised governance. I smashed out a few thousand words outlining a path to regaining relevance in the national leadership conversation. Why? The strength of

The lot has been empty + unused since 2017. While @LondonBreed worked to upzone + allow more density – a key move to support infill in SF – @DeanPreston fought it. (Excellent) installations + a billboard criticized Dean's hypocrisy near the lot during Nov 2024 elections
