The one that drives me nuts is this. I have a prosthetic leg & a disability card ♿️ on the dash. I watch DAILY while able bodied people use the ♿️ spots because "someone in their family" is disabled. This is 100 % against the rules. The disabled person must be in the vehicle. 😡
I'm becoming convinced that Ford & Lecce have severely underestimated the anxiety, depression, and anger that the entire education community is feeling that not enough is being done to make schools safe. This will explode when outbreaks begin and will boomerang on the PCs.
I believe what I am hearing from parents is that teachers are assigning FAR too much work, making themselves, the students & their parents frustrated & resentful in the process. Dial it back by 50% at least or everybody will be breaking down very soon. Not good for education.
Note to provincial governments in Canada:
You need to take all of the kids back in school full time in September and you need to do it safely. This is your job. Nothing else will work.
Over to you. No distance learning, no part time, social distancing. Figure it out.
Ford Lecce : we offer F2F and Zoom.
Parents : We want small classes.
Ford Lecce : our schools will have improved HVAC
Parents : We want small classes
Ford Lecce : the buses will be super clean.
Parents : We want small classes.
Ford Lecce : it's the unions fault.
Parents : Sigh 🙄
It seems Toronto Sun has an issue with teacher remuneration from public money?
* no problem with doctors.
* no problem with cops
* no problem with firefighters
* no problem with EMS
* no problem with profs
* no problem with jail guards
Just teachers? Why is that?
80% of Liberals prefer the NDP to the Tories. The Liberal leader basically quit. Let me put this in
Simple words.
If you (Liberals) don't vote NDP then Doug Ford will be premier. When the big cuts come to healthcare and education we really dont want to say we told you so.
For every Liberal in a total panic that Trudeau might lose to Scheer and blame the NDP and Greens for existing, my message is simple - STFU. Trudeau had every opportunity to bring in Proportional Representation. He trashed it. Karma may dictate it will cost him his job.
Why won't the premiers hire enough staff to allow physical distancing in schools?
1) It is expensive. I estimate $3B in ON for class size to be lowered to 15 (Denmark is 12).
2) They are petrified that if parents saw classes of 15 for a year, they wouldn't allow 25+ ever again.
It would really help if the Principals' Association called a press conference and denounced Ford's cuts to education. Nobody is asking you to march around in the cold or lose $$ striking, just get off your butt and denounce the cuts. Your teachers and ed workers cant hear you.
Stephen Lecce " we can't keep spending 80% of the education budget on people we need to spend it on students". Let that sink in. Who does he actually think supports the students?
Today NDP government of Alberta raised minimum wage to $15/h.
Today PC government froze Ontario minimum wage at $14/h.
Which one is for "the people"?
Not a trick question.
I just got my notice from Ontario Teachers Pension Fund. All retirees will be getting a 2% raise due to 2% increase in CPI. What is good enough for me is good enough for all educators. Anything less than 2% is a wage cut. Dont accept it.
@KawsachunNews
Absurd. The majority clearly wants Morales. The problem for the right wing is that they truly believe 1 indigenous peasant vote should not equal 1 ethnic Spanish middle class vote. It's pure racism.
Why do we have huge federal deficits? Because Chretien, Martin and Harper cut corp taxes from 27% to 15%. Deficits exist because corporations and the 1% have had their taxes slashed, not because we are spending too much.
@AndrewScheer
That's odd. The best run happiest nations on Earth are Scandinavian. Moderate socialist nations. Run most of the last 90 years by NDP type nations.
@EWErickson
He broke their terms of use policy. They're a private company. I can't imagine conservatives who want to tell "private companies" what to do. Try telling the Murdochs what to print.
A few weeks ago Liberals mocked Jagmeet Singh for demanding paid sick leave as one price of support for a minority government. The Liberals laughed and said Singh didnt understand the constitutional division of powers. Now Trudeau announced a paid sick leave plan for Canada.
I really want to tell Lecce and Ford that they are losing buckets of blood over their education policy for nothing. It will cause them to lose in 2022 and all of these policies will be reversed.
Government to teachers :
Get your ass back into the schools & teach!!!
Can we gave smaller classes? Barely. Daily testing? No, when we get around to it. Can we be front line workers for vax? No. Can you give us N95 masks? No. Can we wear our own? No. Shut up, and eat in your car.
The 1st year EQAO tested Gr 10 literacy I was at a TDSB mtg sitting beside Star Ed reporter Louise Brown. The TDSB produced a list of 100 +high schools based on parent income. I showed the list to Louise and said this is the EXACT order of finish on next months first literacy
The result of a decade of attacks on teachers in USA has led to a severe teacher shortage. Long time teachers retired early and young people chose other professions. BC is experiencing a similar situation not yet to the same degree.
Keep it up Lecce and Ford.
Top wage Canada
Pharmacist $123 000
4 years university
Engineer $105 000
4 years university
Teacher $98 000
5-6 years university.
In case you hear about "high paid teachers"
The attack on Director qualifications is an attack on the entire teaching profession. If anybody can be a Director then anybody can be a superintendent, a principal and ultimately, anybody can teach. This is a deeply held position by some conservatives as they constantly

For anybody who still doesn't think climate change causes more frequent and larger wildfires, climate change caused the extreme heat which ignited the bone dry forest at its hottest spot.
There are 15 seats in Ontario where the NDP is 2% or less behind the PCs. Mainly small blue collar cities, and working class suburbs of larger cities. NDP majority possible. Liberals blowing their budget on labour bashing ads aimed at the NDP- sole purpose, to elect Doug Ford.
1) Schools are closed:
Get back in there you lazy teachers, my kids are making me nuts,
2) Schools are open:
Cases spike again all over.
Schools start closing again.

Rinse and repeat.
Look. Either A) make schools safe or B) leave them closed until September. A or B
Teachers and their unions need to get behind CUPE with all their muscle and money. They are the shock troops here. If they win teachers will win. If they get a beatdown, teachers should be nervous.
Fed NDP needs an agreed agenda with Trudeau. If he refuses then Singh should move a steady stream of bills:
Pharmacare
Dentacare
Proportional Representation
Free tuition
National childcare
Meet Paris Accords
Green New Deal
Vision care
Trudeau kills them at own peril.
Teachers and their unions should be doing everything in their power to restrict, stifle, reverse e-learning. It is the primary tool of privatization by the billionaires who are attempting to destroy public education and its unions. Use your brains and refuse to facilitate this.
I think Ford is literally stunned that Moodys would downgrade Ontario's credit rating because he made tax cuts. Doesn't understand tax cuts = larger deficit. 🤣
I dont think teachers are hearing the ministry quite correctly. They are TELLING YOU if you ran a student centered classroom to CHANGE that, and reorganize to a teacher centered classroom or you will get sick and die.
I wonder if it has dawned on Lecce yet that if this Ontario school opening in the fall is a disaster with outbreaks, reclosings, or worse, that it is all going to fall on his head. He demanded control, but no $$. He could be headed for a nose bleeder seat on Tory back bench.
taught me that, with 99% accuracy EQAO testing measures nothing more than school demographics.
The way to raise scores is to raise incomes. Nothing else will work. Period.
@Northcountryboy
@Cate__Johnson
Totally. Don Lemon on CNN says his relatives all live in Louisiana or Texas. They are peaking, hospitals full but wear a mask and people yell "libtard" "hoax" "antifa" at you. Total F morons.
Aaaaand now we get a analysis of the state of Ontario from a drug dealer who flunked out of high school, somehow got into Humber College and flunked out again before Christmas. You can take that to the bank.
Who cares. 3 months ago Alberta wanted to separate and cut off transfer payments. There months later they are begging Ottawa for money. My, how things have changed.
By forking over the money Ford and Lecce demonstrate their total misreading of the situation.
Parents are not angry at inconvenience of childcare, they are angry about larger classes, forced elearning, understaffed special ed, ...
It has taken many many decades to build a high quality public education system in Ontario but as Mike Harris proved and Doug Ford is proving again, the system can be damaged for a generation with a few destructive laws.
The Ontario government is proposing a totally dysfunctional, 2 tier online education system because it is "better than nothing". It is not better than nothing. It is worse than nothing.
Ontario Math issues? Canada

in world, add Japan, Korea China. (China submits only Shanghai it most educated city). PISA results from OECD 65 countries.
@marcorubio
Israel believes it is beyond criticism and that any criticism of Israeli expansionist and imperialist policy is antisemitic. This is nonsense. It is a cheap cover for permanent occupation of the WB without incorporation into a one state policy where all can vote.
What happens when Canada gets PR?
* far more women elected.
* far more minorities elected
* more action on climate change
* Tories cannot win without severe moderation
* more and better social programs education, healthcare
* Lib NDP Green alliance governments.
Who wants that?
People who complain about being "stuck with their own kids at home" need a reminder that the public education system is not a baby sitting service. They are your kids exactly like July and August. They are your problem.
3 huge scandals:
Liberals - gas plants, ORNG, $1B
Tories - 29 candidates corrupted by 407 scandal.
Oh ya... NDP one candidate doesn't like to wear a poppy.
The glory days of ON and QU manufacturing and AB fossil fuel extraction are not coming back, EVER. The reason is technology, robotics, AI, 5G...its over. We need to build a whole new economy based on service, environmentalism, education, health, leisure, high taxes on 1%
What must be particularly irritating to conservatives is that teachers and education workers are teaching a giant lesson to a generation of students about how you react to unfair bosses and governments. This lesson is about actions not words.
I'm pretty tuned into organized parents and I can tell you what I'm hearing. Parents want.
✅ full day full week education
✅ no remote learning
✅ safe class sizes of 15
❌ Ford says no new $$
You figure it out. I've given a model. Every teacher with certification teaches.
@riverfrontcamp
@tedcruz
Wtf makes you think it's the best country. Many countries have higher standards of living, better healthcare, better education results, cleaner environments. USA does not even make top 10 on happiness index.
I worked with and for teachers' unions for decades. I have never seen unions that have the solidarity with their membership that Ontario teachers' unions have.
Ford warns teachers’ unions not to dare protest class-size increases
I dont know why it is seldom mentioned but public education has a return on investment of at least 4:1. This means that for every $ spent on education, the province is $4 better off. Ed $ means less spending needed on healthcare, criminal justice, income supports,
@jkenney
This is a proven lie. USA keeps expanding choice and goes exactly nowhere in educational achievement. There is zero connection between choice and improvement. None, zip, nada.
Ok dont cut 2 tax brackets out of provincial income tax, Raise min wage instead.
Return Cap and Trade and gradually increase it.
Raise gas tax
Raise corporate tax 2%
No need for cuts.
AGAR: Don’t like government cuts? Offer alternatives
One can truly believe that the Liberal attacks on labour are designed, not to elect the Liberals, that is off the table. The attacks are designed to prevent an NDP government. They are scared stiff that an NDP government would be popular and preclude a Liberal revival.
To those idiots who say it is unfair that teachers are off 2 months in the summer I say: I guess you could have become a teacher but you chose not to become one. Life is about choices. It's not like you didnt know beforehand.
I hope teachers and ed workers understand the value of a union today. Lecce made major concessions on class size and elearning today. Enough? We will see. More negotiations to come.
Two provinces gained the most jobs, BC and Alberta, governed by NDP. Two provinces lost the most votes SK and ON, governed by conservatives. Just sayin'.
@erinotoole
Translation "I'm going to get killed in this election, and will have to resign E night to get out of the hall without too much loss of blood, so this isn't a good time for me."
Results of election using Proportional Representation:
PC = 50 seats
NDP= 42 seats
LIB = 24 seats
Green = 6 seats
Liberals would have big decision to make but people would have received EXACTLY what they voted for. Either a progressive Horwath govt or a very moderate PC govt.
They had all kinds of time to do far better. Opening bars, big mistake. Going to level 3 too soon. Priorities are wrong. There are many ways to make classes smaller.
