I agree with much of what you're saying. On the graphics front, the evolution of WebGPU and various development tools has dramatically increased both technical capabilities and accessibility. The barrier to entry for creating sophisticated browser-based experiences has dropped
Might be a good time to pivot back to web. RuneScape was massive despite being slow and built on clunky, old-school databases that could barely handle concurrent player states. The thing is, the model worked. Millions of players logged in daily through nothing but a browser.
