I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… 999 call handlers are the most under-appreciated and underpaid group in the emergency services. I had to call 999 recently while off duty for an OOHCA and the handler was amazing. Nothing but respect for them and the job they do 🫡 🚑

Hey doc! Criticising and ambulance crew for not having a cervical collar on a trauma patient (because they were agitated and wouldn’t tolerate) isn’t helpful or constructive. Things aren’t that black and white out here. Listen to the crew and their reasons before belittling

If ambulance crews continue to attend the relentless amount of primary care calls this must be acknowledged. I’m not accusing GP’s of hiding in their surgeries. I know that’s not the case. But there’s unequivocally a massive issue here. Paramedics can only do so much

How many of you ambulance folks can honestly say you could whip out the traction splint and use it without confusion? All I’ll say is thank the gods for the 3rd year student paramedic who was out with me. Saved my bacon and my blushes. Theses students are absolutely amazing! 🚑

I made a wrong decision at work yesterday. All because I convinced myself I HAD to do something. 15 years as a paramedic and I’m still learning that sometimes the best decision is to do nothing. Reevaluating and learning at all times - both skills and mentality

Ambulance services should be checking their staffs welfare following major trauma calls. This should not need to be suggested in 2022. Staff welfare continues to be neglected despite the overwhelming evidence of the significant detrimental impact to ambulance staff #paramedic

I wonder when someone in one of the U.K.’s ambulance services will be courageous enough to ACTUALLY prioritise staff welfare. At the moment it’s nothing more than a sound bite given to the media and added to emails. It’s hard to see staff absence improving until this happens
