Kalshi is a prediction market. Their vision is to literally apply sports betting to everything, remaking the world and our lives into a casino of speculation. This is a fundamentally dehumanizing and degenerate view of society. It must be stopped at all costs.
Tarek Mansour, CEO of Kalshi, recently stated that “the long-term vision is to financialize everything and create a tradable asset out of any difference in opinion.” People involved in such things should be dispossessed and ostracised, not celebrated as progressive icons.

It's nice to learn that Alex Karp is spiritually a Facebook Boomer: his family also won't speak to him because of his insane conspiratorial ramblings.
🚨Preview – 434. Gang Stalking Palantir🚨 We learn about the paranoid delusions of a man, Alex Karp, being sacrificed by the new pagans of a global woke religion. If you spend enough time targeting individuals, eventually you too will become a targeted individual.

This detail is designed to give me maximum psychic damage. It’s all just pure grift and pivot! “We scaled Fireflies to a $1B valuation after 6 failures from our original crypto food delivery idea.”

We have no right to be surprised at these stories of AI fraud when folks have been writing for a decade plus about how this techno-economy is built on humans pretending to be machines.

Yet another prime case of Potemkin AI. I hate seeing an “AI notetaker” in a zoom call recording everything. In some cases, these notetakers were literally just a guy writing everything down. We too often see vaporous hype leading to the credulous embrace of fraudulent systems.

Last night I took part in yet another excellent Luddite Tribunal, this time organized by librarians at a public library, where we put technologies on trial with a very fun, engaged crowd. Today it’s my birthday, so please go smash an infernal machine in my honor. 🛠️

I had a blast talking to @jathansadowski and @bigblackjacobin on @machinekillspod about all the things we get wrong about disability and medical technology. Take a listen and order my book today from @UMinnPress !
I feel like @BeccaMonteleone's book really lays out how to think critically about disability. The case studies are detailed and center people's experiences, but for me it's her conceptual framework on the techno-politics of disability that I found so useful for thinking with.

🚨433. How to Think About Disability (ft. Becca Monteleone)🚨 We're joined by @BeccaMonteleone to chat about her new book — the Double Bind of Disability — on the politics of disability, technology, and the production of knowledge/power over people's bodies.

That’s right, the over-investment in AI is systemically important to the economy. The infrastructure is too big to fail. This boom cannot be allowed to bust—no matter what! These are hallmark qualities of every legitimate financial institution.
According to today’s WSJ, AI-related investment accounts for half of GDP growth. A reversal would risk recession. We can’t afford to go backwards.

this website is truly special. we’ve got ppl doing DuPont PR for free, for pure love of the game
ok i was being a little hyperbolic there but like. on the scale between harmless and fatal i think microplastics must be closer to harmless bc otherwise we would have seen massive evidence of harm across the entire population atp. however that may be a logical fallacy.

I love the idea of weird old guys becoming boomer pickup artist influencers out of concern for the “next generation’s population replacement levels”
I hear from many young men that they find it difficult to meet young women in a public setting. In other words, the online culture has destroyed the ability to spontaneously meet strangers. As such, I thought I would share a few words that I used in my youth to meet someone that

Typical psych profile of a tech oligarch: Born rich but with below average intelligence. Anxious, anhedonic, antisocial, disagreeable, humorless, disliked by others. Bland on the surface, but driven by an implacable mania and shrewd aptitude for making money. Entirely amoral.

🚨Preview – 430. Bring the Pain🚨 We discuss the massive layoffs at Amazon and Meta, and how tech companies are gutting their labor force as a way to sustain (in the short term) their over-leveraged, over-investment into capital expenditure for AI infrastructure.
