Breaking news? @NinyeTabz told us days back. But itโs nice to see the CDF come down hard on corruption in the army.
CDF @mkainerugaba orders arrest of three senior army officers after billions of shillings fraud New Vision has learnt that the arrested officers allegedly siphoned off billions of shillings in non-existent procurement deals and inflated prices on items that were delivered for

Stolen money has to be put in something. Apartments and arcades are engines of money laundering. That's why they don't care if they have zero occupancy. They don't owe banks any money and the land is appreciating in value anyway so let them stay empty, who cares ๐
@jamesonen The challenge is it promotes appartmentism and acardesm and never ingenious entrepreneurship that drives proper national growth

We decry corruption but don't acknowledge that most local (Ugandan) investments are fueled and sustained by corruption and fraud. When people put up buildings, where do you think alot of that money comes from? From outright theft, embezzlement, or bribing government officials for

While corruption stimulates the 'fake' private sector in Uganda, it is not a beneficial trend for a young and vulnerable economy to cultivate and foster, as it engenders classism and leads to uneven, unintentional, and non-strategic development. This situation creates a

This is what I told someone the other day. Politics is in Uganda is for politicians and peasants. For we the educated middle-class (aka 'elites'), it has nothing to do with us. But the way we whine daily on X about elites being useless coz we don't march ๐

Given the fact that we dont have gold mines developed to international standards, we might be a conduit for DRC Gold! Also how does such a key revenue sector end up in private companies? But our national debt is on the rise๐คซ
Who are the main gold exporters? I assume it's not the government, since the gold mines aren't state owned. Do we really benefit as a country from all this gold we are exporting? And is it even Ugandan gold or are just a hub for trafficking DRC gold ๐ค

@jamesonen We're essentially mortgaging sustainable development for flashy apartments in Najjera. True progress requires breaking this cycle, even if it means short term pain for real gain. @jamesonen @IGGUganda

always funny when people compare migration to colonization as if showing up to drive uber or collect welfare is the same as arriving with technology centuries ahead of the locals, building infrastructure, and establishing institutions the delusion required to see these as the

I love me some Japan but I didn't feel this show tbh. The first episode was too convoluted. But let me try the second episode and see if it gets better.

We need to teach people to love themselves the way they are. That beautiful woman transformed her amazing body into to become a man. Women cry for Nyash daily and some people take what they have for granted. Sad. Should have stayed a woman!

I know there's tear gas. But everyone around him is calm, breathing normally and not spazzing. Dramatic, much? Oh Larry ๐
RAW: I've been tear-gassed a lot in the last 2 years but Uganda's mix was nasty! Even policemen were suffering next to me. Notice the army of security officers around us. We only aired a portion in our Bobi Wine CNN story but here's the full clip + an extra angle
