Have you looked at the new guidance? Better record’s together. I hope you will back the campaign as my MP, corporate parent, one of your constituents and care experienced person who had to jump through lots of hoops to get mine
@jacqueMccartney @ICOnews @ico Hi Jacqueline, I support what the ICO are trying to do, and have supported constituents to make Subject Access Requests to care and health organisations. There should be much greater awareness of individual rights under the DPA.

'A stranger knew more about my life than I did.' Accessing records about time in care is a brave step to take. Jackie made multiple requests for hers. "It's your life, it's your story and it's important to us all to get those pieces put together." https://t.co/NBCzdaELqG

We are really pleased to see ICO's new campaign - empowering people to exercise their rights and access their records. Find out more about their work in Better Records Together.
Everyone has the right to request information held about them by organisations. This is known as a subject access request. It’s easy and free to make. We have a new guide for people with care experience with information on how to make an access request: https://t.co/TGaOTFddwr

Since it's Remembrance Sunday I am reposting this. On page nine I have an article about those who grew up in the care system who fought in past wars. Many, perhaps especially those from the old institutions, will have had no family to mourn or miss them when they did not return.
🌟Autumn edition of Care Leavers Connected is here! 🌟 Launched during the first #NationalCareLeaversMonth, themed “Rising as Me”. Our message: The care leaving journey doesn’t stop at 25. 💪 Read it here: https://t.co/uWPBOvroVR

I will looking forward to hosting this. There's no specific topic but regulars know that I've taken to bunging in some history at the start to get us going. We will then range over whatever subjects we want that are related in some way to our experience of growing up in care.

For too many children in care this is the reality. Bin bags send the message that their lives & belongings don’t matter. That’s why for every Madlug you buy, a pack-away travel bag goes to a child in care...because no child should carry their life in a bin bag.
