Many very interesting insights, worth a read.

I think anons are essential to the ecosystem but also something has gone awry lately and there is a need for a reset.

I know the oblique argument - the whole ecosystem only makes financial sense if ads are supporting it. It's good for the user to have content, and you only have content if there's money jn it for creators, right? Still. This experience does not delight.

I dream of a web without ads. It shouldn't be like this. I know all of the arguments for why it is like this, but none of them makes the experience of ads less intrusive or less bothersome. The internet largely does not have the user's interests at heart.

Humanity is collectively on the cusp of achieving many of its highest aspirations from science fiction. This should be an occasion for celebration, introspection, and a feeling of increased responsibility. Why, instead, do this? Why are we so determined to poison our own cup?.
