we are initiating human single neuron recordings in Norway! We have received approval to initiate a clinical trial evaluating the diagnostic value of using tetrodes in patients with epilepsy. In parallel, we will also dissect the neurobiology of memory...

So happy that this paper won the ignobel. Luck > Talent (success is random). This, together with the Matthew effect, should kill the way we nowadays distribute funding in science. https://t.co/YYmWZ1cDA2

1500M NOK for Norwegian science this year. Probably nothing next year. In comparison: ministry of science is awarded 700M NOK each year to cover administration.

With 5,4% success rate (82/1500) in this years grant applications @forskningsradet is likely to be the most difficult reserach funding to get in the world. I am wondering which other countries have comparable success rate for science funding.

using a cessna airplane and a radio transmitter to track migrating moths that pass the alps during a single night! it seems as the moths know how to avoid the highest mountains (even though they have never passed the alps before)? Impressive!

Migrating hawkmoths continually adjust their flight headings in response to winds to maintain favorable migratory trajectories.

As one of the richest countries, Norway must contribute to science, for the best of the world and humanity, also in times of economic pressure. There must be better solutions than freezing funding and firing the board of @forskningsradet. @KISNeuro @jonasgahrstore @Regjeringen
