Searching for salmon in ice-cold waters! Last week, DWT’s Northern Devon Natural Solutions team joined members of the Torridge Fisheries Association in the freezing cold waters of the Torridge, near Shebbear, to look for salmon ‘redds’, where female fish lay their eggs.

In low flows beavers maintain and increase pond levels by incessant application of mud to the inside of the dam. This pond level has never been higher. Water flows around the side of the dam, connecting the stream with it's floodplain and by default providing a free fish pass.
