When someone posts about AI use I don't immediately discount their opinion as "sloptimizing" unless they use absolutes like "everyone must do this or be left behind". There are use cases. But it's not universally a benefit to use AI. Not now. And perhaps - likely - never.

So as far as I can tell consumer electronics will go up in price (perhaps significantly!) this year and next year...that means laptops, TV's, gaming consoles...all because we need Timmy to prompt for more "AI" slop. Is it worth it?

I hate even calling these chats with predictive models "artificial intelligence" - mostly because it's not intelligent, but I do see plenty of intelligent people abusing it and becoming less intelligent themselves.

I actually don't fault any artists if they ultimately decide to abandon X. It's good for some things. But the rampant abuse of AI is a net negative.

Local news story about fuel deliveries mistakenly putting diesel in the gas tanks at gas stations and ruining people's cars? Someone literally replies "but my Costco doesn't sell Diesel!" Lady. We know. That's the news story.
