Baroness Warwick introducing Lords debate of UUK Blueprint for HE. Acknowledges tranformations being made by HEIs but sadly some cuts doing great damage "such as the worrying loss of modern foreign language programmes." Urgent need for action. @UCFLangs @ILCS_SAS @UniversitiesUK

I spent four happy years working at @UCLan. Saddening to see valuable and well-taught courses now under threat. Equally saddening is that staff "only by chance found out when at an open day meeting they were told not to advertise the at-risk courses".

Nice to see Mancunian alumna of @OfficialUoM and former Labour Minister for Education, Ellen Wilkinson, peering over Chancellor's shoulder. A happy Suffragette! Checking for reintroduction of student grants?....

Great new project to promote Italian literature in translation. The focus is on getting more translated books into libraries but it is really of interest to everyone in the field. They have a brilliant daily blog throughout October… https://t.co/e8bDuX4LFh
