I'm wrong about 1,000,000 things, but yesterday it was 1,000,001. Recently began podcasting with my good friend @drowsyinvestor -- link below.

Rubrik is my top stock holding at present, but it's good to know the bear case too. The bull case is, this is a faster-than-most grower per ARR (34% YoY), with unique cybersecurity strengths that should keep growth strong as profitability also rapidly improves.
@calistoker123 If it helps, some negatives/concerns: 1) ARR is in fact slowing, and I may be wrong that it will stabilize or reaccelerate. 2) Top line revenue has had a tailwind and will have a headwind in 2026. (ARR is what I watch) 3) They still have to execute as they improve profitability.

I feel Rubrik $RBRK is one of the most misunderstood names in software. The company does "data backup and recovery", which sounds pretty boring tbh. But they've actually carved out a critical niche in cybersec and are growing ARR at 34%. Quick thread on what $RBRK actually does:

The S&P 500 has returned an average of 11% per year since 1950 and has done so despite an average intra-year drawdown of 14%, and often drawdowns that are much worse. The lesson? Volatility doesn’t equal a permanent financial loss unless you sell.

He's held from $1 to now over $200. Not easy to do, especially when I am telling him to sell every day. Congrats my friend! Buy yourself that monocle now! ...and then trim!
200 bagger achieved with $NVDA crossing the $200 mark. Yes, probably a “toppy” sort of statement. But there is true power in longterm compounding and holding on for dear life.

These are the top 20 companies by mkt cap, and what their stocks have returned each year since the start of 2023. I guess when you look at the top 20, by definition a lot of them have been doing well...but some of these numbers... ...Investing isn't always this easy.

One point I tried to make (and did poorly, so let me try again): If you don't have a reasonable range of what to expect from a company and you just *hope that it will be *lots of revenue and profits *eventually, you can justify ANY price. Many of us made that mistake in 2021.

In Dec 2022 (maybe later — I’m doing this from my phone) AppLovin was under $10. Now it’s over $650. A 65 bagger in less than 3 years is a life changer. But if you buy in now, don’t expect much. It won’t 65x again (LOL), and it will be hard for it to even double/triple from here.

On October 20, 2021, $SE was a $200 billion company and $MELI was around $80 billion. Then on January 12, 2024, $SE had a $20 billion market cap and $MELI was around $85 billion. Now, $SE is catching back up. What a wild ride!

$APP has 100% earned its way to a ~$160b market cap. At this scale, will they to continue to grow at this breakneck pace? I don't have the answers, but will continue to watch with amazement. They have risen like a phoenix from their former gaming business to be an ad powerhouse.
@Elevate881 @drowsyinvestor Agree that it is cheaper than ALAB in just about every way. (I don’t own that one.) Except APP mkt cap is $160b. If APP doubles it will be one of the ~30 largest companies in the world. 🤯 Lastly, a -38 trailing PS ratio is very high, but bc margins so 🤩, PE still reasonable.
