@IlliniBaseball @RLacien The result: 85 ➡️ 90+ mph. From D3 reliever ➡️ committed to the University of Illinois. Not an overnight jump, but instead, 3.5 years of consistent small steps in the right direction. 📈. 5/

@IlliniBaseball @RLacien Richie had two key mechanical breakthroughs:. ✅ Direction: The KBO rocker cleaned up his stride and posture.✅ Posture/Block: Drills like the Clevinger drill, Deadman, and Roll-In variations kept him stacked and on time. 4/

This is the energy transfer we want to maximize while pitching, and what connected throws aim to help you feel and pattern 🌪️.

Part of the reason that being too linear in phase 2 is inefficient is that we need one rotational piece to stop rotating in order for the next rotational piece in the chain to accelerate/maximize its rotation. The tornado of energy working from the ground up can be seen here:

The idea is simple, once your front foot hits the ground, stop all of your forward momentum and simply rotate. Another way to think about it is keep your back foot ‘connected’ (hey how bout it) to the ground the entire time. Dont let it come through like a normal throw.
