I think I mentioned my personal definition of (and pitch for) engineering, which was approximately: “To gain an understanding of how the world works and, by leveraging that understanding, improve it.”

Feels like the Tidö parties are driving Sweden over an economic cliff. If you turn off the immigration tap (because you’re steered by the far right), but also you turn off the “child benefit” tap (because it leads to gang crime?) Who’s left to work the economy tomorrow?

It’s like Europe learned nothing from the Trump years in the USA. When the crazy politician proposes something dumb and self-destructive, it’s not just rhetoric playing to their base! They actually want to do the incomprehensibly dumb thing.

Really shameful for a minister from the Liberal Party (that’s “liberal” as in, the opposite of illiberal) to minimize criticism of his government’s instigation of authoritarian policies by comparing it to “rhetoric” in the USA.

Leadership is manipulating people to achieve a goal. Good leadership is also ensuring the benefit to the people being manipulated is greater than the cost of being manipulated in the first place.

As an outsider, one of the saddest things about the Salesforce acquisition is to find tgat those 8 core values are nowhere to be found any more on the web. The good news is: they’ll live on forever! At least in brief, in Tableau’s S-1 filed with the SEC.

Malmer Stenergard (and immigration discourse in Sweden generally) is too focused on getting rid of “the kind they don’t want,” and not at all focused on attracting and retaining “the kind they do want.” We don’t feel welcome, it’s a bureaucratic nightmare, and it’s getting worse
