This satellite imagery of large blood stains on the ground in Sudan is extremely grim.

I've returned from a (glorious) parental leave and I'm right back into the Washington news chaos -- this time as an editor on Bloomberg's broader national security team, rather than a correspondent covering State.

Rebecca has done fantastic work in this role for Bloomberg, and now Hong Kong is not renewing her visa. Just awful. I held this position before her, and ended up leaving Hong Kong after we were locked out when the city banned flights from the US, Canada, etc during Covid.
After six years of reporting in Hong Kong, and at eight months pregnant, I’m very sad to be leaving my colleagues, friends and the place I’ve called home. https://t.co/zPc8F4aa7b I’ll be out of office for a while on maternity leave. Wherever I land, catch you on the other side

Very belatedly, I am on parental leave for a while. So this account will be even more dormant than normal.

"In announcing sweeping tariffs, US President Donald Trump not only justified them by saying they’d protect manufacturing jobs, he also said they would benefit the country’s farmers. What a load of nonsense: Trump is about to make food in every American kitchen more expensive."
REACTION COLUMN: Trump said it was defending US farmers. But not only his trade tariffs will hurt the country's farmers, he's about to make food in every American kitchen table more expensive. @Opinion #TradeWar

Honest question: Do people in the White House want Nike to start making sneakers in the US? Do they think people in Vietnam or Cambodia are going to suddenly start buying expensive US products over ones made more cheaply in Asia?
