I got T1D in 1983. Regime: 2 needles/day, urine testing, strict diet. Today I reflashed the firmware on part of my artificial pancreas over my lunch break so it could handle my post-lunch BGs while I met with a student. I love things that get better over time. #WeAreNotWaiting.

41 years and counting today, still going strong! Re-upping for #T1D people who are still here.
Management lessons learned from 40 years with #T1D. I didn't get this posted in time for my #diaversary months ago, but wanted to share it in case it's useful to others. Many thanks to all those from whom I've been able to learn things along the way. 💙

(I’m aware this is old news but some of us were busy in late July).
I can’t decide if it was a highlight or lowlight of my summer that I broke a leg in a freak accident on day 10 of a 12-day hiking trip. Cons: shortened trip, much pain, can’t run, facing long recovery. Pros: survived scary situation, have been surrounded by great care & support.

It’s all funny because it’s all true.
I was just promoted to full professor after a decade on the job. Here are 10 tips on getting there if you’re crazy enough:. 1. Think about quitting about once a week. Just don’t. 2. If someone says, “academia is a marathon not a sprint”, sprint away and marathon like a Kenyan.
