A spectre is haunting Linkedin — people using hints to manoeuvre their way onto the public leaderboard for the games, pushing pure-hearted hint-free love-of-the-game individuals down the ranking order. They should be excluded, or put in their own Leaderboard of Shame

Just been to the custom Quality Street tin section at John Lewis and was astonished to see a man standing there and shovelling solely coffee cremes into literally dozens of tins. Had to go back about 30 mins later, and he was *still there*.

I just don't understand how anybody with any aesthetic sense whatsoever could have produced the actual design. Why are the windows different sizes? Why are they unevenly spaced? Why is it all so haphazard? Who wants this?!

The results? As with every Visual Preference Survey, it was clear. 📊 71% of respondents preferred the traditional alternative 📉 Only 21% chose the official design 🧍‍♂️ 8% weren’t sure This was a national sample. Not just local residents.

There's something faintly depressing about Adobe Acrobat having a ribbon describing documents of barely 10 pages as "long documents" which I might need AI to help me summarise.

It is now apparently a “bourgeois idyll” to think that theft is bad and that thieves should not be able to “get one over” on normal people just going about their business. Such a baffling paragraph I genuinely had to check the whole article to make sure it wasn’t a self-parody.

This would lead to a completely ungovernable outcome. I doubt there is even a stable two-party coalition which would emerge from this.

A mysterious expert in submersibles was interviewed by the Coast Guard during the Titan investigation. His name is redacted, but we barely get into the interview before it becomes obvious who it is.

Today is like barrister Christmas with the release of the Chambers & Partners UK Bar 2026 rankings. Lovely seeing friends getting due recognition, and pleased to have been ranked for the first time myself (and very grateful to my referees for saying such nice things about me!)

I think the disconnect is simply related to trust in politicians. The more popular you are, the more you will be identified with popular values. For example, I suspect the public would have viewed peak Blair in 1997 (including flag-waving, etc) as sincerely, genuinely patriotic.

I've seen this criticism a lot over the past few days, but I'm not sure it's right — I think a lot of Brits really *do* express their patriotism in this way. It's just that they view politicians doing it as a stunt rather than something genuine.

It is genuinely quite funny watching contemporary Labour politicians try to do patriotism, just this really odd mix of cringey tropes from adverts & madly over the top literal flag waving & tinny appeals to "values" that have no particular link to Britain at all.

I know most people don't care about this specific race, but I still think it is a shame that the BBC is losing yet more sporting coverage (of a sport which doesn't generally get covered) https://t.co/JeR05VTmyg
