Yes we have 10 💣s in 3 games. Yes we went back-to-back-to-back today. But there’s something really sweet about a backside line drive with 2 strikes. Love the way our hitters have bought into our approach.

Hitters need to know why they’re making outs. The game is a different task than the training environment. Priorities: Approach Timing Swing They’re all tied together and they all matter…

Hitter misses under the slider and adjusts too much and misses over. Re-adjusts and hits 💣. Awareness of vertical barrel accuracy is crucial for success. The choke-up definitely helped too.

NAIA Career HR record holder took responsibility for his approach by diving into his data… simple question he asked himself: “what pitches can I do damage with?” @CalebLang22

I worked with a hitter today... He changed his plan mid-AB Because the umpire called strike 1 on a pitch nowhere near the plate. Here's what I told him:

This is an outstanding approach-oriented 🧵 from @JWonCATCHING
Most successful hitters go up to the plate with a plan. They generally don’t try to cover the entire zone. With less than 2 strikes,if you can control the middle 10” of the plate you are ahead of the game. Eliminate the outer & inner 3 1/2 inches. You CAN move that 10” in or out

🚨 Derek Jeter - Hitting Approach • Looking for a Fastball - down the middle • Trying to hit everything to right-center • This approach gives you more time to react & adjust ⭐️ By letting the ball travel farther, he was able to do more damage on off-speed pitches and keep

I really wish that every committed baseball player across the country would band together and commit to playing Legion ball after they commit. Personally I think it would be so much better for everyone involved. The level of Legion ball would climb so committed guys would still

How you swing impacts how you hunt pitches. Where are you letting the ball get to? How do you approach different shapes? How do you want to see the ball out of the pitcher's hand? How are you using the angles the pitcher is providing?

“His #PitchRecognition is impressive,” Hoerner said. “A lot of those at-bats that he’s homered in, there’s been a take that’s usually an out for anyone else. I feel like he can match up with any pitcher. His strike zone awareness is really impressive.”

Cubs first baseman Michael Busch is on a tear at the plate lately, tying a franchise record by homering in five games and posting a 1.141 OPS in 16 games.

Vertical barrel accuracy isn’t talked about enough. We’ve created a metric for it. It’s something that big leaguers understand pitch to pitch. But it’s not even talked about at most levels. It’s massively important for hitters to make mid-AB adjustments. GOLD👇
“Sometimes the thought that we have as a hitter is different from the reality of how our body thinks to do something…There are times when we do high spin fastballs in here with players, where they’re swinging and missing. And then I say on the next one, I want you to try and

So, amateur hitters—what’s your approach against a pitcher that tunnels? You might not face Glasnow, but arms that throw pitches that tunnel are at every level.

“Arguably, I would say approach is the most important thing we can have. My brother, 85 or 90% of all of his at-bats in the big leagues, he was looking middle middle. Called him full count when he was in San Diego because he got to full count more than basically anybody in
