A pretty typical off season practice schedule from Sac City in the day(Circa Fall of ‘98) I’d spend(with staff input) 2+ hours formulating this the night before. We were dealing w/60+ players on 4 fields(Land Park #1 #2 #3 & School) with a staff of 12 or more really good coaches.

Base runners at 3B that don’t return to 3B( Inside the line) as soon as the ball is caught by the catcher are vulnerable to both delay & direct catcher picks.

Stand up or one knee down? Change is inevitable in just about everything we do. We are result driven. We don’t make changes to get lesser outcomes. The data usually tells us everything we need to know.

PITCHING APPROACH THOUGHT If you are an east west pitcher with a sinker/slider-sweeper approach, the goal is to widen the plate for the hitter which forces him in to lesser swing decisions. You are constantly forcing the hitter to work from his heels or his toes.

More thoughts from Brian Bannister 1) Sacrifice velocity for pitch quality. He did that with Logan Webb. 2) Improved quality of pitches & then command. 3) Build up delivery tempo. 4) Data is today’s steroid. How can we leverage data to make our players better? 5) Skillful movers

Brian Bannister is the Senior Pitching Advisor for the Chicago White Sox & is a cutting edge thinker. Some of his thoughts on pitching efficiency especially as it relates to average plane fastballs. 1) Diversify FB types(Sinker/cutter). 2) Use pitches with higher values
