ChatGPT, copilot, midjourney…. Interesting, powerful tools, yet they remind me to never neglect my fundamentals. I’ve a fear that “If those services / platforms suddenly change for the worse, vanish or get overpriced, could I still deliver without them?“.

Certainly was an interesting idea at the time…. But now 8 years later we’re still coding & designing though. https://t.co/heSeY0g8le

Anyone remember TheGrid, an AI powered website generator that promised to have websites “just make themselves”….

Just bricked my PC motherboard bios, and system stopped posting at boot. A setting change didn’t apply it seems, and possibly caused it. Much stress. Thankfully just needed a temporary removal and reinstall of the cmos battery to reset the bios settings, and now it’s fine! 😅

I don't know who needs to hear this, but: Software is a vehicle for creative expression. The output doesn't *have* to be useful or a business.

ChatGPT is insane! Whilst it cant produce an entire website in one query (yet?), a few queries can code a section design of a site to some effect. Both of these portfolio examples I made entirely from ChatGPT produced HTML & CSS. The time saving potential is intriguing.

One of those low-effort, high-value CSS things is transforming box-shadow. A few changes to x/y shadow distance and colors makes all the difference here in faking the 3D look of this component. https://t.co/gjZtb3MgMq

Here's a copy of the React component and it's code if you're curious. If you'd like to stress test it as well feel free, any feedback is always appreciated! 7/7 https://t.co/9ZUr3PkqLh

There is also the matter of international formatting of currency values when displayed. Something I want to research into at a later date too. Not a priority for now. 6/7

I also need to refactor the components code (particularly how I'm handling the conditional rendering: As rendering a text input with non applicable attributes like step and min is not recommended I'd say), and improve it's readability overall. 5/7

Known issues to be fixed: * Adding of warning messages for extra clarity. * Safari on mobile does allow multiple decimal separators to be input from keypress. Whilst the input is not accepted at onBlur, I need to add a warning to make it clear to the user what's occurring. 4/7
