It’s been a long process, but had such a great and enlightening time working on this with an amazing group of friends/conservationists/scientists/ECRs/women: @Larcher29 @LizzieJones42 @heidima825, @RosaGleave @aline_marine @tha_lassie @yshennan.

It’s not all doom, we also talk about how far the conservation movement has come, highlighting that change is possible and there’s so much more we can achieve. #ConservationOptimism.

We also give an overview of conservation’s past, its connections to colonialism, and how it’s affecting the field today. We talk about the importance of ethics, power dynamics, local partnerships, relational values, and inclusive decision-making.

#Conservation inherently involves people. We need to better account and prepare for this, immerse ethics throughout all practice and research, and embrace the diversity of opinions, values, and insights that inclusive approaches can bring. Read our ideas:
