Our research identified three key pathways to male-perpetrated #IPH: Fixated Threat, Persistent and Disorderly, Deterioration/Acute Stressors. Pathways were differentiable from the others on several key domains. Hard to condense the research but here goes!!! 🧵

Our research published by @ANROWS explores pathways leading to intimate partner homicide. In analysis of 200 cases of #IPH we looked at major events in the life-course of offenders/relationships to identify points of intervention @hayleyboxall1 @von_lawler https://t.co/w9RhkRxQyr

"All across the northern suburbs — where the majority of our clients who are victims live — they [the perpetrators] are surgeons, academics, plumbers, leaders in business. Their mates and friends, rarely suspect what is going on behind the scenes."

The fact that the head of an “elite” private boys’ school saw no problem with writing this, is all we need to know about what the problem is. https://t.co/utpqWyKLCr via @ABCaustralia

Finally, while FTACS do some security and safety planning around the potential target of violence, this would need to be the FIRST PRIORITY in a DVTAC.

However, although many people who perpetrate IPV and IPH have mental health issues, it's role in the lethal violence can be unclear. As such, a FTAC for IPH would need a stronger and broader focus on other factors contributing to the escalating risk

FTACS have a strong focus on supporting people at risk of using violence on improving their mental health which could have a direct role in their potential offending. Certainly, many people referred to FTACS have sig mental health issues including psychosis.

Many people referred to FTACS are angry at a group or an ideology or organisation, rather than an individual specifically. However, in IPH the potential offender is angry at a specific person - their partner and are likely to have access to them (e.g., care of shared kids)

Fixated threat assessment centres - which are already being used in aus to prevent lone-actor grievance fuelled violence (e.g., terrorism) - might help us prevent #IPH. But it would need carefully planning and adaptation. Some thoughts... 👇 https://t.co/SABXJSro9w

I'm lucky to call this amazing woman a friend. Never underestimate her intellect or courage. This is a painstaking account of her betrayal by the News Corp press dating back to coverage of her abuse in 2011.

I will always be exploitation material in the eyes of the Murdoch press, but when I first clashed with them, I was an anonymous child in the raw stages of trauma.
