Success! ModelSim now running on my 11 year old FC19 Linux workstation. Thru Googling and random trial and error - all of these "yum install" libraries finally did the trick. What a pain. Not quite 8 hours of effort getting to here. Thanks to everyone who gave me some tips today!

valendo um trento pra quem souber um jeito mais fácil de exportar uma simulação do questa/modelsim dps de bater a cabeça na parede por umas horas eu achei um jeito mas envolve converter o arquivo do modelsim pra vcd e dps usar um script python pra converter em WaveDrom json

Upgraded my FC19 Linux workstation from 500 GB to 1 TB SSD. The SSD lasted one week as I filled it up 90% with ModelSim and Vivado installs( all working! ) and now it's worth way more to me than the $60 cost. Really like this small form factor PC. Greatly simplifies the process.

Today's award for the most cryptic error message goes to .... Modelsim! Thanks to Google Translate, the message appears to be Chinese, and to mean "Scatter the deer". That said, I'm still not sure how that applies to either digital design or simulation ...
