The long-overlooked insects that could save our crops Hoverflies, often mistaken for bees and wasps, pollinate three quarters of our crops. Now we’re discovering we can train them to be even more efficient https://t.co/LpYUJplE1X https://t.co/IS1Gh3QZE0

Plant a wildlife hedge instead of building a fence! It could help hedgehogs, bumblebees, blue tits, robins, frogs, bats, toads, dunnocks, butterflies, moths, blackbirds, solitary bees, wrens, hoverflies... A quick guide to hedges: https://t.co/1eGF8StOJI

Phacelia tanacetifolia Fiddleneck Phacelia tanacetifolia is not native, this annual plant has blue-purple flowers from June to November. It’s nectar & pollen content attracts pollinators including bees, butterflies, hoverflies etc. Spotted near a farmed field. #WildflowerHour

Can we have a shout out for hoverflies? These unsung heroes may not be as flamboyant as butterflies or as cute as bumblebees, but they’re important pollinators that also help control pests like aphids. How to help them: https://t.co/gNAg9EbEp3

Dear councils, 97% of meadows are gone. So please, value our wildflowers. If you are lucky enough to have them growing in verges and public spaces, don't poison or over-mow them. Let them grow as a lifeline for bees, butterflies and hoverflies 🐝

Can we have a shout-out for the unsung heroes of the insect world? Hoverflies, beetles, moths and many other insects are important pollinators. To help them (and bees & butterflies) grow nectar-rich flowers and avoid pesticides.

Great hairy willowherb, better than anything you can buy in the garden centre. It's native, (I'm in Ireland) beautiful and bees, butterflies and hoverflies love it πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•πŸ¦‹πŸπŸͺ°

I must taste really good 😌 Hoverflies, often mistaken for sweat bees, are not bees and cannot sting or bite. They may lick sweat for salt and water. These pollinators will be less common as we head into fall, so enjoy them while they last. And share your sweat so they can
