Here is a great figure (from Ingmar) setting the scene on the spatial coverage & habitat types covered 🌳⛰🌾 by this awesome project ➡️ you'll recognize the forestREplot 🌳🌳 network, the GLORIA dataset ⛰⛰ & the more recent grassland data 🌾🌾 collated by Martin Diekmann

Overall phylogenetic diversity of European forest plant communities is not declining over time. Still, some lineages are losing species and others are gaining species more often than others. Details in a new article by @j_padulles in New Phytologist:

European forests lose orchids and gain roses (= Rosacease): a media extract from our New Phytologist article led by @j_padulles.……. Ericaceae & Fabaceae are also lost and Amaranthaceae & Cyperaceae gained. #forestREplot.

Our new study found that small-range plant species are being replaced by common plants in temperate European #forests due to increased nitrogen deposition➡️diversity is declining. Thanks @idiv, #forestREplot and Ingmar Staude, Donald Waller & Lander Baeten.
