Similarly, I dislike the silliness of the late Baroque (and Baroque revival) exaggerated-vertical style, but then I see, say, the Carmelite Convent in Santa Clara, California, and I think, yeah, that will do. #ArchitectureThoughts 5

I dislike—even detest—most late baroque styles. The fussy elaborateness of the Churrigueresque, for example, especially when the façade is shoved on an otherwise blank wall. But then I see, say, the Palace San Telmo, and I think, well, okay. #ArchitectureThoughts 4

The Vessel reopened since 2021. Nets now line its core, a silent pivot from spectacle to safeguard. Can architecture evolve through collective grief, or does it simply carry the weight of what we never say?. #thevesselnyc #hudsonyards #architecturethoughts #designresponsibility

In any new architectural style, the early moments of elaboration are often, almost always, wonderful. And the later moments are often, almost always, awful. #ArchitectureThoughts 1.

In American architecture, "Colonial" means built around the time of the American Revolution (or, by loose extension, built later but in that style). Unless you’re a realtor, of course, in which case "Colonial" names anything built before World War II. #ArchitectureThoughts 3.

Odd that a house designed in 85 years ago looks more "modern" than most houses built today. #architecturethoughts.
