“For a Labour Government to announce that more children are going into poverty, more families are going into poverty because of a decision they’re making - it’s utterly disgraceful.”.Jeremy Corbyn. #Newsnight #SpringStatement2025

Watching a Labour prime minister and Labour chancellor celebrating pushing millions of people into poverty is one of the most disgusting spectacles I have seen in my life. #SpringStatement2025

Rachel Reeves actually compares disabled people to fucking teenagers. And she wants to cut our pocket money. To Ms Reeves, I say, “GO FUCK YOURSELF WITH A DECOMPOSING HERRING, YOU CONDESCENDING PIG. Treat disabled people with some damn respect”. #SpringStatement2025

Local pharmacies provide vital care, but the government’s NI rise will add to the huge financial strain they already face. I’ve asked the Treasury if they’ve assessed the impact on independent pharmacies - here’s their response ⬇. #SupportOurPharmacies #SpringStatement2025

Spring Statement 2025: NI tweak, VAT simplification, green grants, expensing perks, and (surprise!) more MTD delays. Nothing wild, but still worth a look. The devil’s in the deductions. 💼📊 #SpringStatement2025 #SMEs #Bookkeeping #ASBK

Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves have displayed a complete lack of care and compassion for the most vulnerable people in our society. If they don't care for them then they will certainly not care for anybody else. #SpringStatement2025

Getting people back to work is crucial, but the system needs to protect those who can’t & help those who can. Labour's panicky emergency budget will inevitably lead to further cuts and taxes hikes and it's the most vulnerable that will suffer. #SpringStatement2025

Today it was confirmed that the changes to welfare represent a £4.2bn net saving by 2029-30 (2025-26 prices). This is large by recent historical standards, but smaller than those seen at several fiscal events in the first half of the 2010s. #SpringStatement2025

“They’re not only halving the incapacity element of universal credit, they’re then freezing it for the rest of this parliament – that’s quite a big change, actually.” . @PJTheEconomist on the scale of changes to disability benefits in the #SpringStatement2025. #PoliticsLive
