We LOVE our new Lego 'Build Me' Emotions kit! We built characters and tried to name the feelings they had in different situations. We then wrote about some of them in our emotions booklets. #nameittotameit

We made 5 point scale lollipop sticks to support children's emotional awareness, to know that tricky emotions aren't permanent and to help them Express to others how they might be feeling #5PointScale #EmotionalLiteracy #NameItToTameIt

Had the opportunity to attend a local harvest supper put on by the Rural Mental Health Network tonight in Stettler. Our guest speaker was Brett Gardiner, CPRA award winning rodeo announcer. He hit all the right notes. #nameittotameit #MentalHealthMatters

We are looking at the Cycle of Crisis with some of groups and the processes that occur when we become dysregulated. Its really important to recognise our triggers early on to aid self-regulation. #nameittotameit.#emotionalliteracy.@Aileymill

A1: Amygdala hijack happens when the connection btw a thinking (rational) and emotional (limbic) brain is lost. Allowing ourselves a pause to breath, recreates that connection and allows you to respond & not react. Another great strategy is to #nameittotameit #rethink_learning

We were rocking and rolling this morning to create our very own Colour Monster for The Den. “His feelings are all mixed up!” “Poor colour monster is all over the place” “It’s ok, we’ll help you.” #NameItToTameIt #AllFeelingsAreOk

Our Den buddies created their own characters, exploring their emotions and physical characteristics before sharing their character’s story with the group. 😀😢😡🥺😲#LEGO #Duplo #BuildMeEmotions #NameItToTameIt

Today we were talking about anger. Its an "uncomfortable feeling that makes my fists tight and my face red!"We talked about how anger is a normal emotion and how important it is not to hurt ourselves or others when we feel angry.😡.#emotionalliteracy.#nameittotameit.@Aileymill

We are developing our emotional literacy and trying to use a range of feelings when we check in. Today we used our new check in sheet and were goofy/ curious/ nervous and unsure- a real mixed bag! 💜🌈.#NameItToTameIt.#EmojiEmotions😀🤢😡😓😍.@Aileymill

#NameItToTameIt Words represent how we feel, by labelling your emotion you help release it. Support and model this to children, "you seem angry your Lego tower fell, that must be frustrating." Make the link between behaviour and emotions. #EmotionalLiteracy

Can you guess which feeling P2 were learning about and discussing today? 🤔.The boys did a great job of showing me how it looks/ feels/ sounds and then drew examples of it in their emotional literacy diaries. #nameittotameit.#emotionalliteracy.@Aileymill

Our P1a Den Buddies helped Colour Monster identify his feelings today, then talked about times when they have felt like that. We added their feelings jars to our wall display so that they can be reminded that all feelings are ok. #NameItToTameIt #FeelingsComeAndGo #ColourMonster

We find the five point scale is a fantastic way to get children to express themselves. We can build up their vocabulary of emotions and use the colours or numbers to describe their strength. #NameItToTameIt #5PointScale #nurture #FFBWednesday

Yesterday during my #DaringVenture I confessed to being triggered emotionally by a simple phrase "I hear you" perceiving it to be patronising. Today thinking of that same phrase sparks no negative emotion at all #OldDogNewTricks #NameItToTameIt

Today, our understanding anxiety group explored the importance of labelling and externalising emotions. Through group work, we recognised that we all experience different emotions to the same trigger. #NameItToTameIt #EmotionalLiteracy #Wellbeing #MentalHealth
