@EdNZ @piawaugh @verbman @BR3NDA @AndreaSiodmok @frankadvicenz @GracefulLillian @hendysh @HoneyBeeGeek @ben_r @graememuller Certainly, that’s how an #InternetofRules works. The Lichen component, integrated into any system, allows users decide. Note: I’m talking about commercial policy automation. This is my area of focus, as it’s where all the economic loss occurs. https://t.co/YjFzdgsnDR

Implementing "Legislation As Code" - I only recently spotted this in NSW's "(Draft) Delivery Roadmap" from Nov 2018. A first? I haven't seen NZ or anywhere else publish a timetabled plan that includes saying they intend to implement #LegislationAsCode https://t.co/E7rhfDeoLU

One goal is to make legislation much more accessible, code does that for those who don't code in an automation sense, i.e. anyone (with a device) can benefit through using the programs/websites that programmers build on top of the #legislationascode

Coming to a place where I think it’d be useful to encode policy statements right in the legislation-as-code, so 30 years later, when public servants/AI try to make admin changes to the program, any that conflict with the policy could be tossed. #betterrules #legislationascode

@RoundTableLaw @BrigetteMetzler The first step to #legislationascode is conceptually sound policy. Writing the code helps prove the concept model but isn’t so good at forming it. Hard to explain - much easier to show. I suspect we need to organise you a virtual workshop.

This is why #LegislationAsCode is important. If legislature endorses the code in the first place (and policy staff and drafters used code to test the proposed legislation), then those who build apps for it, and those who use the apps, are both much safer.

Machine-consumable legislation - it started in NZ, spread to NSW, now taken up by Australia's central govt. British Islands jurisdictions will be discussing it in June. Momentum building. #LegislationAsCode #MachineConsumableLegislation
