@robhoadley Iirc, last time I check censusmapper I noticed some really good active travel numbers for the City centre. Would be interesting to see transportation modeling for a second Active Travel Bridge near the Westmoreland Bridge.

@danp128 @LUrbaniste That said, Barrington & surrounding is still sad and empty. There's probably a good reason for it: no one lives there.

@MJBondNashville sure thing!. most of east Nash west of Ellington lost population. east side was mostly flat, save a few districts that added multiple apt buildings. take out growth on gallatin and most would’ve declined. almost all of east lost ~40% of black residents.

@johnjosephjingl Are you sure? In Vancouver certainly the lower density areas are less diverse than higher density areas. Jens has this ethnic diversity mapper; Ottawa core certainly looks more diverse than surrounding areas?

Now that sprawl is off the table in Ontario, Why not try looking at the following neighbourhoods to add new residents? These are maps of renter density. Areas in cream-colour have very few renters that would be displaced if new housing was built.
Doug Ford has taken so many risks when it comes to facilitating sprawl and gone bust on each one. Maybe now he could start taking risks on funding local transit and forcing munis to lift apartment bans near transit?.
