If you trusted a politician or podcaster who told you that trade wars are good and easy to win, but they're now saying that the pain for Americans will only be short-term, it's worth thinking about whether they are just as gullible/dishonest this time as they were last time.

This item got improved via a motion by Bradford. Instead of having a concept of a plan to consult a year from now, staff is directed to consult next year and have final recommendations back at Q4. Big improvement at least.

Took vacation time to attend this meeting because even though the COA apparently treasures public input, their meetings happen 9-5 on weekdays. So inaccessible.

Or someone could run an inspiring campaign that isn't about defending the status quo, since that just leads people to feel like there is no point in voting. Low turnout is partly on voters, but candidates putting forward the most mediocre, defensive campaigns aren't helping.

I hope that @BonnieCrombie and @MaritStiles are taking notes on what can happen when more progressive candidates cooperate to avoid splitting the vote, and to defeat a right wing opponent.

As a cyclist and a renter, I'm voting strategically. And then, regardless of outcome, I will be advocating for more housing options for DVW. I don't think the current development system is consistent with a human rights-based approach to housing, but it's the one that we have.

This is the only City-involved affordable housing opportunity that I've seen in the ward in over a decade. I would love to see more, but high-rises get a lot of pushback. Local councillors have tremendous power to prioritize or delay housing.

Surely the week's most important election is today, Nov 4. If you're a citizen living in Don Valley West and didn't get a voter card, you can find your polling location and register before you vote, from 10 am to 8 pm.
