New technologies like AI, medical apps and implants seem very exciting but they too often have bugs and are susceptible to cyberattacks. Even well-established technologies like infusion pumps,...

WHY is DfT so slow over a long-standing obvious problem? Maybe LED industry makes so much money it lobbies heavily for selling more LEDs rather than improving safety?

I've just been sent an email: "... could you respond by 05/11/2025 or as soon after this as you could manage. Please note that the due date given is in UK date format." Why not just ask me to respond by 5 November 2025, or are their computer systems so bad?

After spending 10 minutes or so describing my *urgent* medical problems the NHS computer in the Emergency Department crashed. Reception had no idea. It is very bad programming for the system to keep no log or incremental backup as it goes along, especially as it is so unreliable.

@GWRHelp GWR don’t want to sell tickets anyway. With excellent wifi, it’s been frozen for half an hour.

Yesterday, I read a long list of Angela Rayner's accomplishments while in the job, & I hadn't heard about any one of them. I realised how all the communication, from govt to media, is obsessed with small boats. It's all we hear. Boats, boats, boats. This is crazy.

Too little, if any, of the Angela Rayner coverage reflects the reality three editors have parked cars outside her homes and pursued her since and before the election. They got their target. But they choose who they take down, who they ignore, who they celebrate. And who they

There are many sad things in this world, one of the saddest to me, is seeing old people have to go into a home. We give them nice titles like care homes , even appealing names like Butternut Lodge and Sycamore House. The stark reality in many cases is the cheapest of cheap

It’d be interesting to see this research on Trump repeated on Farage
@travisakers ‼️Extensive research reveals that the MAJORITY of the Orange Monster's public comments over the past 9 years (2016–2025) are LIES, MISINFORMATION, or EXAGGERATIONS, with estimates often exceeding 60–70% in specific time periods‼️ 🤔 Are You Surprised❓️ https://t.co/0BtcfkAEu8

The rich case for a British wealth tax. "A 2% wealth tax on assets over £10 million is moderate, reasonable and much needed. Imagine you have £11 million. A wealth tax would require you to pay 2% on that 11th million - so £20,000. But most people, with wealth of this scale, can

Excellent statement from British Ministry Defence explaining that it would take Russia another 4.4 years and over a million more dead Russians to occupy just these 4 regions of Ukraine. Imagine if the US were to just sanction russia.. Putin would be gone.

Brexit is the most absurd hill for Labour to die on, yet all recent polls from every pollster provide clear evidence that they're dying. It is stark staring mad that their approach to Brexit continues to be "slightly improve the lifeboats on the Titanic". https://t.co/cRhVbvTlws

Wanted to tell @avivaUK they have a bad web site etc: lots of problems eg if you need to update credit card details you HAVE to pay next year's premium. All they offer is a chatbot. You can't tell them things that'd help them as it's cheaper to have a chatbot than talk to a human

I’m sorry, I’m not trying to be a jerk, but referring to Y2K as a “fake crisis” is really inaccurate. Was some of the panic about it hyperbolic? Sure. But the actual technical crisis underlying it was a serious issue that lots of people worked seriously on for years.
“The truth was that in those premillennial days, so concerned had everyone been to ward off a fake crisis that several real ones had been left to fester.” Leigh Claire La Berge (@marxforcats) in Fake Work, which was published in June by Haymarket Books. https://t.co/Ls7KL9wwLb

I don't like email that doesn't have a replyto - it means the sender doesn't care (eg doesn't want to know about problems), but @AnthropicAI go one further: a replyto email that bounces. So they give the impression they're possibly interested, but never hear from anyone.
