The ramifications of this are potentially seismic. Among other things, a vote of no confidence in RCK and Malcolm Wall could completely derail the WRU’s plans to restructure professional rugby. But there are still so many unknowns.

The WRU now have 21 days to acknowledge the notice and schedule the EGM. Will likely be following the conclusion of the Men’s Six Nations.

Swansea Council says it has ‘serious concerns that the WRU’s restructuring proposals breach UK competition law’ and they have sent preaction letters to the WRU and Ospreys owners Y11.

BREAKING: Swansea Council say that on Jan 22, Ospreys CEO Lance Bradley explained the Ospreys as a professional entity will not exist beyond 2027 should Y11’s purchase of Cardiff be completed. The plan is for the Ospreys to merge with Swansea RFC and play in the SRC. @ITVWales

The council says it faces material loss, including £1.5m already spent related to the St Helen’s redevelopment on the understanding Ospreys would remain a professional team.

Formal pre-action legal letters have been sent to the Welsh Rugby Union and to Y11 Sport & Media, the owners of Ospreys. The letters argue the WRU's decision to cut a region was not carried out in a fair or transparent way.
